It was early morning on Friday, September 8, 2006 when I received a cell phone call from Joan Sharkey that her greyhound Jamie had a stroke the night before. When Jamie arrived we were ready for her, we had everything laid out waiting to start intravenous fluids. She was carried into surgery and laid on a surgical table.
